Thunder-horns are massive omnivorous herd beasts found across multiple provinces, with the Woolly and Timber varieties native to Skyrim. These creatures are often described as colossal repto-mammals, possessing thick, leathery hides that range in color from sandy brown to deep black. Most bear a prominent nasal horn, and some, particularly the Woolly kind, are covered in a dense coat of hair.
The Woolly Thunder-horn roams the plains of Whiterun, the hot springs of Eastmarch, and the forests of the Rift.
The Timber Thunder-horn is most often found in the northern reaches of Skyrim.
In the wild, Thunder-horns are primarily herbivorous and generally docile in temperament. However, when threatened, they become fearsome adversaries, capable of trampling foes underfoot—or in rare cases, devouring enemies whole.
Legends speak of exceedingly rare Thunder-horns said to possess the power to summon lightning, channeling the raw energies of Levinace itself.
