In the Dawn Era, when Nirn was still young and civilization had yet to rise, the world was home to ancient beasts of staggering size and power. Some rivaled the ferocity of Daedra, while others dwarfed even the greatest dragons.
Among these primeval creatures were the Ankylosaurids—massive, armored saurids often called the “living tanks” of the Dawn. Their bodies were sheathed in nearly impenetrable plates, requiring immense force to pierce, while their heavy tails ended in bony clubs capable of crushing foes to death. They are said to be distant kin of the Wamasu, sharing a lineage that traces back to the very roots of Nirn’s primal life. The Ankylosaurids roamed freely until their extinction shortly before the Merethic Era.
Yet, before Mundus was finalized, the Et’Ada forged several “rough drafts” of creation—astral realms layered with raw, primal life, untouched by the hand of man or mer. The Nirn we know today was shaped from the final draft, but these earlier realms endured as echoes of creation’s first experiments.
For generations, a sect of Druids (kin to the Forsworn) and their allies among the Hagravens dreamed of these realms, receiving visions that spoke of their power. Seeking to harness it, they studied the sigils that once birthed the Oblivion Gates, attempting instead to reroute their magics toward this astral plane.
Their rituals were dark and terrible: countless human sacrifices were made, and a thousand Spriggan hearts were torn from the earth, for they believed the Spriggans shared a natural tether to this realm. At last, their sigil was complete. A gateway opened, and through it, they drew forth many of the Dawn beasts—including the Ankylosaurids—back into Mundus. For what purpose, none can say.
The Druids’ power did not end there. With the aid of their Hagraven allies, they crafted staves capable of summoning Ankylosaurids directly from the astral realm, binding them as though they were Daedra to fight at their command.

- High Resistances – Strong resistance to both physical and magical damage.
