Description:
Lived-In New Vegas is the final installment in the "Lived-In" series of mod. Using a handful of unknown/under-utilized modding techniques, I've made it possible to have a navmesh-less location overhaul with proper path-finding, automatic compatibility for various popular mods, and the ability to completely disable any location changes on the fly to allow for easy mixing and matching of different location overhauls.
Configurable via INI file or in-game with MCM Extender.
This mod currently includes all of the same locations as my old Lived-In AIO mod, with the goal of also eventually including other new locations. Lived-In Strip and Lived-In Freeside will remain standalone due to difficulties getting them to be fully configurable.
For those unfamiliar with my Lived-In series, it aims to overhaul many of the game's locations in an extremely compatible and performance friendly way by adding lots of new props around to make it feel more, well, lived in. It also restores a lot of pre-release content seen in pre-release footage or in the beta builds. In a way, it can be considered a companion mod to Goodies because of this.
Locations:
- Goodsprings
- Sloan
- Primm
- Mojave Outpost
- Novac
- Helios One
- 188 Trading Post
- Ranger Stations
- Bitter Springs
Technical Details:
Thanks to the little-known knowledge of the Obstacle flag on statics and Collision Layers shown to me by InTheGrave , it is possible to update the navmesh to account for placed objects without actually having to edit navmesh. This is achieved by placing a custom invisible collision object with the Obstacle flag and correct collision layers underneath placed items to dynamically update navmesh in game. This change also allows for each location to be configurable without sacrificing any potential issues with navmesh.
Please let me know if you notice any NPCs walking into objects placed by this mod, I may need to adjust or add more navcut objects!
Instructions
Since this mod features no navmesh edits and very few edits to vanilla records, it should be highly compatible. The most incompatibility you will notice is clipping objects added by other mods in overlapping areas. Another great feature of scripting is being able to automatically disable these objects if a conflicting mod is loaded. This mod already features this sort of automatic patching for the following mods:
- Barter-Boy Currency Conversion Terminals
- Eliza
- SUPER Lively Goodsprings - load SUPER Lively Goodsprings BEFORE this mod!
- The Living Desert - load The Living Desert AFTER this mod!
If you notice any other mods with clipping objects, let me know and I may add automatic patching if it interests me.
