DESCRIPTION

This mod is intended to slot into a vanilla+ playthrough, such as the one described by pushthewinbutton 's Through the Valleys.

It accomplishes this by taking cues from the mods listed there and making a series of unobtrusive tweaks to various Mythic Dawn characters in the game, with a particular focus on Mankar Camoran and his two children. The intention, as stated above, is to make them all a little bit harder, as all Mythic Dawn characters are pretty mediocre in terms of them presenting a real challenge. Granted, this was likely by design, as Bethesda games generally intend the main quest to be the onboarding process for new players. Still, even taking out the fact that we've all played the game a dozen times by now, I still believe that major antagonists should pose some challenge to new players. The details on these changes are listed below, per character, so you can decide if this mod is for you. All of the changes are leveled, meaning that these characters aren't arbitrarily difficult and that you can still complete the quest at any time. The exception to this is the enchantments added to the robes, which are instead based off the changes and logic behind pushthewinbutton's Balanced Unleveled Rewards. Oblivion's poor level scaling is a near-universal critique that his mod solves, and unless there's a demand to implement pure-vanilla-style scaling to the changes I made, this mod will be provided as is (especially since most people have likely moved on to the Remaster, anyways). Do keep in mind Balanced Unleveled Rewards isn't at all required, just strongly recommended; this mod will still function perfectly fine on a vanilla install/without that mod. Balanced NPC Level Cap was also used an inspiration for ensuring that enemies could level with you, pose challenges, but not infinitely scale beyond your abilities. It is also recommended.

I also included assets from zageles mod, Mankar Camoran - Mythic Styled Robe Replacer. Unlike his mod, these robes are assigned to all of the other characters edited by this mod: Ruma, Raven, Eldamil, and Mythic Dawn Leader. This reinforces a bit of hierarchy in the Mythic Dawn ranks while ensuring that Mankar Camoran's clothing remains unique. I did edit the icon from the above mod to better mesh with the icons included in the base game.

CHANGES TO CHARACTERS

Mankar Camoran

  1. No changes to base stats, spells, or skills--he's already well-balanced in this regard.
  2. His robes are now unleveled, consistent with Balanced Unleveled Rewards, and have had the following effects added to their enchantment:
  3. - Resist Magic (15%)
  4. - Shield (15%)
  5. These effects are intended to increase Mankar's challenge without bloating his stats and give the player a better reward for completing the main quest.

Raven Camoran

  1. Level Offset: 6, up from 2. This means that he will always be 6 levels higher than the player. For context, the Level Offset of a vanilla Bandit Chief is 4--meaning Raven Camoran was often weaker than Bandit Chiefs, at least in terms of level and stats. For additional context, Mankar Camoran's default level offset (unchanged by this mod) is 10.
  2. Level Minimum: 10. Raven Camoran will always be at least this level, regardless of the player level. As you have a companion to help you with this fight, he should remain beatable for even low-level characters while still providing a higher challenge.
  3. Level Maximum: 32. Raven Camoran will never exceed this level (meaning you can out-level him).
  4. New class. In vanilla Oblivion, Raven Camoran's class never allowed him to use his existing Alteration spells beyond an Apprentice level. The existing leveled spell he was given by Bethesda implies he was supposed to be able to cast it up to a Master level. Creating and assigning him a new class rectifies this. Additionally, the new class better reflects his weapons and spells used.
  5. New leveled spells:
  6. - Absorb Health (scales up to Master)
  7. - Damage Attribute (scales up to Master)
  8. - Summon Daedra (scales up to Journeyman)
  9. - Healing (scales up to Master)
  10. Uses the new "Mythic Dawn Chosen" robe, which has the following enchantments:
  11. - Resist Magic (8%)
  12. - Shield (8%)

Ruma Camoran

  1. Level Offset: 6, up from 2. This means that he will always be 6 levels higher than the player. For context, the Level Offset of a vanilla Bandit Chief is 4--meaning Ruma Camoran was often weaker than Bandit Chiefs, at least in terms of level and stats. For additional context, Mankar Camoran's default level offset (unchanged by this mod) is 10.
  2. Level Minimum: 12. As you're supposed to run away during the quest where you first encounter her anyways, this shouldn't prevent new players from completing the quest. At worst, they'll have to realize they're out-leveled and flee.
  3. Level Maximum: 32. Ruma Camoran will never exceed this level (meaning you can out-level her).
  4. New class. In vanilla Oblivion, Ruma Camoran's class never allowed her to use her existing Alteration spells beyond an Apprentice level. The existing leveled spell she was given by Bethesda implies she was supposed to be able to cast it up to a Master level. Creating and assigning her a new class rectifies this. Additionally, the new class better reflects his weapons and spells used.
  5. New leveled spells:
  6. - Dispel Self (scales up to Master)
  7. - Burden Spell (scales up to Master)
  8. - Summon Daedra (scales up to Master)
  9. - Damage Health (scales up to Master)
  10. Uses the new "Mythic Dawn Chosen" robe, which has the following enchantments:
  11. - Resist Magic (8%)
  12. - Shield (8%)

Mythic Dawn Leader

  1. Level Offset: 4, up from 0.
  2. Level Maximum: 30
  3. New leveled spells:
  4. - Destruction Spell (scales up to Master)
  5. - Healing (scales up to Master)
  6. - Summon Daedra (scales up to Journeyman)
  7. It's worth noting that these NPCs had no spells outside their spells to summon their Mythic Dawn weapon and armor, the same as generic MD agents.
  8. Uses the new "Mythic Dawn Chosen" robe. Uses an unenchanted variant to ensure that the Camoran's robes remain special in some way.

Eldamil

In case you have forgotten, this is the Mythic Dawn NPC who helps you in Paradise after regretting his actions. He is stated to be a high-ranking member of the cult.

  1. Level Maximum: 30. Eldamil will never exceed this level (meaning you can out-level him).
  2. Uses the new "Mythic Dawn Chosen" robe. Uses an unenchanted variant to ensure that the Camoran's robes remain special in some way.

INSTALLATION

  1. Download mod
  2. Install mod

COMPATIBILITY

Should be compatible with most mods that don't directly edit these characters. It's obviously compatible with all of the listed mods. Major overhauls--such as OOO--are likely not compatible. Mods like Ascension, however, are.

Install with mod manager or manually (drag and drop).
