Better Night Time Sounds (Ambience - Less Harsh - Content Patcher - Calm - Quieter) Mod

This mod replaces the nighttime ambient audio for spring, summer, and fall with less harsh and repetitive sounds. The file is optimized at 2.3MB, maintaining a high bitrate with no audible clicking.

The audio was sourced from a real cornfield at night and mixed to suppress noise typical of field recordings. While a cornfield may not strictly match areas like the Secret Woods, the new audio provides a more natural atmosphere than the vanilla files.

Technical Details

The vanilla nighttime audio can be fatiguing due to a loud, constant cricket hum around the 5kHz band. Since this frequency is near the peak of human ear sensitivity, it can become uncomfortable during long play sessions.

A lower-profile ambient bed is better suited for the game environment. It allows other sounds—like footsteps, foliage, and waterfalls—to stand out without distraction. This replacement focuses on providing a subtle background that enhances the atmosphere rather than competing with it.
