This overhaul adjusts the way Perfect Blocks (PB) and Master Strikes (MS) work, making defense more engaging and combat more tactical.
Core Changes
Perfect Block:
You must match the attack’s direction with your block to perform a PB.
Stabs can still be PB’d or MS’d from any direction.
The top zone can parry top, top-left, and top-right.
Master Strikes: Still require correct direction matching.
Why This Change?
Direction matching is more dynamic — ripostes didn’t allow enough time to adjust before, often guaranteeing you got hit.
1vX fights were unmanageable — now you have a fighting chance without being overwhelmed.
AI isn’t perfect — since enemies don’t always match 100%, you can pressure them more effectively.
Combos were oppressive — this gives you more tools to break their flow.
Design Philosophy
This isn’t about strict realism. In real life, you can ward attacks from many guards, and sometimes it’s better to meet an angle with the opposite side. But in KCD, perfect blocks were too static — feints didn’t disrupt them, and timing was too forgiving.
Now, defense requires more skill and foresight. Feints are viable, defense is harder, and combat feels less predictable.
Extra Notes
Dodge mechanics remain untouched — essential for surviving outnumbered encounters.
Expect fights to be tougher, but more rewarding.
