Balancing

Overview:

This tiny system simply allows you to hit the "grab" key to use any consumable item on any teammate while you have their inventory open.


Works with any modded item, food, magazine, whatever. Hell, skill books probably work. (Haven't tested that though.)


It doesn't block you from overusing items, overhealing companions, wasting items that won't do anything on them, or anything else. If it's in the Aid category of the container menu, you can use it.


This was made with the intent to complement Aid Addon's new healing items. When this mod is used with Aid Addon or the standalone Steroids mod, those mods' method of using Steroids on companions is disabled in favor of this system.


If food heals normally, in the vanilla style in your build, food will heal your companions. Items which damage radiation levels will damage the companion's radiation level, but radiation doesn't actually do anything to NPCs.


Sweet Consumables/Survival Food Healing Duration Framework will not apply food healing to companions with this system. I'm on the fence as to what I want to do with that; I may go back through and manually add some healing for food users that aren't the player, but I'm not sure.


To use multiple of the same item sequentially, simply release the grab button and press it again.


The proper use sound for the item at hand will be played, but it will not overlap itself if it's already playing.


Customization:

Whatever your "grab" key is bound to is the key that will trigger this functionality. For controller users, the default bind is RS-Click. For keyboard users, the default bind is Z.

JIP LN, xNVSE, Johnny, the usual stuff.


Installation:

Regular installation.

Load order is completely irrelevant.


Compatibility:

Should be compatible with any ingestible items which work using normal ingestible effect methods.

Please post bugs in the bugs tab, not the posts. I get a notification when bugs are posted, but I have too many mods to keep up on the posts on all of them routinely.


Questions:

Esp-free version?

Might be possible, and I might noodle around with it, but don't hold your breath. Odds are I won't bother trying for an esp-free version very hard.

Version that can apply to other NPCs that aren't teammates?

This is already entirely possible for any circumstance where you can access someone's inventory, but I have no plans to implement any additional method of entering an NPC's inventory to facilitate use of this system.
