Simple Weapon Lowering (ESPless)
A lightweight, ESP-free weapon lowering system that adds immersive weapon positioning to Fallout New Vegas.
Weapon lowering was a requested standalone feature from Solid Project, so I decided to give it a spring clean and release a version with updated animations.
FEATURES
Three Operating Modes:
• Manual Mode - Complete control via customizable hotkey toggle. X by default but configurable in MCM
• Automatic Mode - Weapons lower after a configurable idle time and raise automatically on combat actions. No hotkey.
• Complex Mode - Intelligent proximity-based lowering when near walls, objects, or NPCs. No hotkey.
All lowering is automatically disabled in combat.
Customization Options:
• Fully configurable hotkey (default: X key)
• Adjustable auto-lower timing (1-30 seconds)
• Customizable wall and NPC detection ranges
• Option to lower weapons near friendly NPCs
• MCM integration
- Supperts B42 leaning by default
- Can auto lower weapon in dialogue
- Auto raise weapon back in sprinting
- MCM settings now apply on update - no reloading the mod
CONFIGURATION
In-Game Configuration (MCM):
• Access via Pause Menu > Mod Configuration > Simple Weapon Lowering
• Change operating modes on the fly
• Adjust timing and detection ranges
• Customize hotkey assignments
• Enable/disable specific features

Key Settings:
- Operating mode (0=Manual, 1=Automatic, 2=Complex)
- Hotkey code (45=Insert, set to 0 to disable)
- Seconds before auto-lowering (1.0-30.0)
- Wall detection distance in game units
- NPC detection distance in game units
- Lower weapon near friendly NPCs (1=yes, 0=no)
HOW IT WORKS
Manual Mode: Press your configured hotkey to toggle between raised and lowered weapon positions.
Automatic Mode: Your weapon automatically lowers after the configured idle time and raises when you perform combat actions (attacking, blocking, aiming).
Complex Mode: Combines automatic timing with intelligent proximity detection. Your weapon lowers when:
• Near walls or objects (within detection range)
• Near NPCs (configurable for friendlies)
• After idle timeout
Weapons automatically raise during combat or when moving away from detected objects. Firing a weapon triggers a timeout (default 3 seconds) whereby the weapon lowering won't trigger again.
COMPATIBILITY
• Safe to install/uninstall mid-playthrough
• Works with modded weapons automatically
