Account Rules

  • Display names, banners and profile pictures are always visible, and as such they should be respectful, safe for work and in keeping with our rules for prohibited materials.
  • Only one account is allowed per user for the purposes of moderation and preventing abuse of the system. Any exception requests should be sought out directly with the moderation team. Using alternate or secondary accounts to evade a ban or account restrictions is prohibited. If such activity is detected, all accounts linked to the user will be suspended, and any pending appeals will be automatically forfeited.
  • Impersonation of other content creators is forbidden. Users may not create accounts, usernames, display names, profiles, or projects that falsely represent or imply affiliation with another creator, user, moderator, or the platform itself. Any attempt to copy, mimic, or mislead others by adopting another individual’s identity, branding, or reputation is strictly prohibited.

Usernames or identities that are coincidentally similar are not considered violations; however, deliberate efforts to deceive, confuse, or impersonate others will result in moderation action.

Content Rules

Upload Rules:

  • Content submitted to GGMods must provide something of value, provide a clear description and screenshots of what it does, how it works, and what it includes, as well as its necessary dependencies and installation instructions. The author is expected to provide reasonable troubleshooting support for it.
  • We encourage you to submit functional content that provides something of value. Unfinished mods are allowed so long as they can already achieve the mod’s intended function, with the potential for updates to add further polish. We discourage releasing mod pages for mods that have only just been started, or as a way to “motivate” the author to create/continue making the mod.
  • Content should be grouped into single, completed mod pages where relevant. Small mods that can be considered as different parts of a whole mod will be considered spam and thus, not allowed. Instead, use miscellaneous files within a single mod page for mods made up of multiple patches or optional files.
  • Content submitted to GGMods is for the community. You must not use any kind of file submission as personal storage.
  • Where possible, please upload your images and GIFs directly to the GGMods servers. This helps us ensure site independence and gives users a place to host their media without relying on third party image hosting sites.
  • When listing dependencies, we ask you to link to in-site GGMods where available. If the mod dependency you require isn’t available on GGMods, you are encouraged to link to it in the off site dependency section instead.
  • Mod uploads must feature original presentation and clearly distinguishable content, including their name, avatar, summary, and description. While similar concepts or ideas to existing mods are allowed, your branding and presentation must remain original. You may not imitate or misrepresent existing mods in a way that could mislead or confuse users.

Holy shit! Two cakes! 2014, stuffman

  • Mods or tools that transmit or download data over the internet are prohibited without prior approval from moderation. We reserve the right to review, restrict, or remove any content that communicates externally. If your project requires online functionality, you must contact staff in advance and provide a clear explanation and, if requested, the relevant source code for review at the following email: staff@ggmods.com.

The use of mod pages as means of promotion for non-GGMods related content such as:

  • Donation links (Patreon, Ko-fi, Throne)
  • Commission advertisements (Whether mods or art, code or other assets)
  • Personal websites, social media

Are allowed so long as they comply by the following rules:

  • Its inclusion remains small, non-intrusive and tasteful if presented at the top of the page. An example might be a button or a small link.
  • Banners and larger inclusions are presented at the very bottom of the page and do not present a visual nuisance, and are presented after all of the mod’s necessary information and description.
  • It does not fall under our rules against solicitation.

Permission and Asset usage:

  • Mod redistribution is strictly forbidden. This is understood as:
    • Repackaging an existing mod and reuploading it, whether alone or in a mod pack.
    • Translations that repackage an existing mod in its entirety instead of functioning as a complement to be used alongside the original work. This rule does not apply if certain translations do not function without repackaging the existing mod, but permission should be sought out from the original author.
    • Uploading a mod from another site to GGMods that does not belong to you.
    • Reuploading a mod that has been taken down by its original author.
    • Uploading a mod, whether currently hosted on GGMods or not, to an external storage service and distributing the link.
    • Soliciting in any way to parties who are not the original author for files that have been previously taken down or updated.

Unless authors clearly specify exceptions to any of the above rules on their permissions tab or profile, GGMods will take action against all above situations in order to protect its mod author’s intellectual property.

  • You may not upload content that includes copyrighted material, such as game assets or images, unless you have proper permission from the owner or someone authorized to grant that permission. You are responsible for knowing and understanding the legality of uploading content including any copyrighted material.
  • Submitting content or assets created by another user without their prior permission is strictly prohibited. Content submitted on GGMods includes a permissions section that you are responsible for reviewing and understanding. If a specific use case is not explicitly permitted, you should assume you do not have permission to use the assets and you must reach out to the original author to receive it. Failure to receive a response from an author after requesting permission does not constitute approval.
  • Uploads that repackage or redistribute another author’s assets that replace proper acquisition of permission for statements such as “this will be removed if the original author requests” does not make the upload acceptable.
  • When utilizing other author's assets, proper credit must always be given unless otherwise stated that attribution is not necessary. Credit alone does not replace the requirement to obtain explicit permission to upload, reuse, or modify another person's work.
  • When receiving reports or disputes, GGMods staff will moderate according to the permissions that the author has established.
  • Permissions granted outside a user’s profile or the mod’s permissions section must be retained in written form. Moderation may request verifiable proof of such authorization at any time.
  • The permissions established by a mod author outlive their use of GGMods whether they willingly left it or saw their account terminated, and files containing their content will be moderated accordingly.

Inappropriate Content in Mods:

Uploading content that promotes, glorifies, or supports hatred, discrimination, or harm toward others is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Nazi symbolism, genocide denial or justification, or praise of historical or modern authoritarian regimes.
  • Deliberately inflammatory political or culture-war content intended to provoke hostility or divide the community.
  • Dog whistles, coded language, or symbols widely recognized as representing hate or extremist movements.
  • Deliberately altering or removing diversity, representation, or inclusive elements from games or mods with the intent to marginalize, erase, or target specific groups is not permitted. Examples include, but are not limited to: race-swapping or replacing characters of color, removing or censoring content related to a character’s sexual orientation or gender identity, or modifying characters, stories, or assets specifically to exclude or demean protected groups.
  • Content that directly and extensively discusses political content or issues regardless of country.
  • Depictions or promotion of sexual assault, sexual exploitation, or non-consensual sexual content.
  • Violence, abuse, or harm directed toward children or minors.
  • Violence, abuse, or cruelty toward animals.

You must be mindful of the handling of children as represented in mods. Keeping in mind the following:

  • Mods are forbidden to depict any kind of romantic or sexual interaction with child-like characters.
  • Mods are forbidden from depicting any romantic or sexual interactions with aged-up versions of children characters, even if they have the appearance and personalities of adults.
  • Child characters should be depicted with clothes and no mods should make it possible to remove undergarments.
  • Mods that depict child-like bodies should not add sexual features or organs such as breasts where there were none originally. This includes enhancement of existing features to more closely resemble those in adult bodies.

For the purposes of our policies, the following will be considered child characters:

  • Characters who are described as ageless or older but retain the physical appearance or proportions of a child.
  • Characters written, depicted, or designed in a way that a reasonable person would interpret as a child, even if they are non-human in form.
  • Characters with child-like proportions or presentation where their age is not clearly established within the game or source material.

We apply these standards based on how a character would reasonably be perceived, not solely on stated or implied age.

Community Behavior

  • Respect is at the heart of the GGMods community. Please treat fellow users, mod authors and moderators with kindness and courtesy so we can maintain a welcoming and supportive space for everyone. Harassment, trolling, or engaging with others in bad faith isn’t acceptable here.
  • Belittling or hostile criticism of other members or their content is not permitted. If you cannot contribute respectfully or constructively, do not engage.
  • Mods shared on GGMods are voluntary contributions made by creators for the community. Mod authors are not obligated to provide updates, additional content, feature requests, or ongoing support. Users may offer suggestions or requests, or even express enthusiasm for an update, but they must do so respectfully and without entitlement or hostile demands. Harassment, repeated requests, or attempts to guilt or coerce creators into changes are not permitted.
  • Discussions of politics or other inflammatory, divisive, or non-platform related topics are not permitted. Comments and conversations should remain focused on gaming, technology, and modding. Content intended to provoke arguments, disrupt the community, or derail discussions may be removed.
  • Submitted comments, articles and media must all adhere to our Adult Content Guidelines .

Moderation Guidelines

To keep GGMods a positive, creative, and fair space for everyone, we maintain clear guidelines and consistent moderation practices.

All decisions made by the GGMods team will be guided by these guidelines and our Terms of Service. We also reserve the right to exercise reasonable discretion and to update or amend these rules as the needs of the community evolve. Our primary goal is to foster a positive, creative space where people feel safe sharing and enjoying content. To that end, we maintain and enforce standards around how the service is used and the nature of user-submitted content. Staff may remove, edit, or reject content as necessary to ensure compliance with our policies.

While we actively scan for any infringing content uploaded to the platform on a daily basis, we rely on community reports to help identify rule violations. The presence of content on the site does not mean it has been reviewed, approved, or found compliant. Please do not assume that something is allowed simply because it remains visible. Violations will still result in moderation action, even if the content has been posted for some time.

  • For minor or unintentional infractions, we may issue an informal warning instead of taking immediate enforcement action. These notices are intended as guidance and an opportunity to correct the issue before further steps are necessary.
  • For more serious or repeated violations, we may issue a formal warning. A formal warning indicates that your behavior or content does not comply with our guidelines and must be corrected. These warnings are recorded and may lead to additional action, including temporary or permanent restrictions, if the issue continues.
  • For serious infractions or repeated formal warnings, users may see one of the following consequences apply to them at the discretion of the moderation’s review:
    • Temporary or permanent suspension from earning GGMods Points for infractions for abuse of the GGMods Point system.
    • Temporary, timed suspensions of account use.
    • Permanent bans.
  • You can reach out to the moderation team to inquire about or appeal a mod rejection if you feel as though it was incorrectly rejected. Our moderation team’s goal is to keep the site and its users safe, therefore we encourage honesty and respect during the communication process.

Ban Appeals:

  • Users may submit a one-time appeal if they believe a ban was issued in error or would like to request reconsideration. Appeals must be submitted through email to: staff@ggmods.com. The email should contain the user's banned account, a clear explanation of the situation, any relevant context, and reason why the action should be reviewed.
  • The user should under no circumstance try and make a new account to contact moderation through the website, as they will immediately see the new account terminated and the ban appeal request forfeited.
  • Each account is permitted one appeal per enforcement action. Submitting multiple appeals, or duplicate tickets may result in the appeal being denied without review. Please allow time for moderators to review your case and deliberate. We take every enforcement action seriously and discuss all actions taken. If you do not receive any kind of response in two weeks time, feel free to send an additional email with a reminder.
  • We encourage honest, respectful communication during the appeal process. Abusive or hostile messages may result in the appeal being closed.
  • All ban appeal reviews are final.
