As a part of our Grand Launch, GGMods is hosting its first official modathon! A month-long mod creation event for modders to create, collab, and share in the joys of mod-making with the community!
As a platform, we are committed to creating a community based on our shared love of modding, and what better way to do that than with an event to encourage and celebrate modding? Themed weeks with cash prizes every week, as well as a grand, per-game, cash prize.
What is a Modathon?
A modathon is a community event where creators come together to make and share mods within a set period of time. Whether you follow our weekly themes or create something unique, anything you decide to make and upload during the set period of time is eligible!
YOU help set up which games are eligible!
For our first Modathon we’ll be offering prizes for five total games! However, the games that participate in the Modathon will be based on the games with the highest modcount on GGMods by Sunday, April 12th.
Help your game participate in our first Modathon by uploading your mods before our official launch. Spread the word, every mod counts!
Prizes:
The following prizes will be awarded to each of our five eligible games. This will be specifically updated once we reach launch and have the highest mod-count mods on GGMods.
Weekly Prizes:
$100 USD will be awarded per game every week, to the most thematic mod every week, following its weekly prompt. As decided by our Judges Panel.
A $50 Steam gift card will be awarded per game, every week to the most downloaded mod that week.
Grand Prize:
$1,000 USD will be awarded to the most downloaded mod submitted in each game during the 2026 Spring Madness Modathon.
How to enter:
Simply upload your mod for the participating game to GGMods and tag it with “Spring Modathon 2026”.
Mods following weekly themes should be entered during the relevant week to be eligible for the weekly theme prizes.
Weekly Themes:
Our weekly themes are entirely optional. Take this as flair to create your mods during the event. You can be as creative or stretch the theme as much as you like! We want to see you get as creative and have as much fun as you can.
The most creative or thematic themed mod during that week, will be awarded $100 USD! Per game.
Farming Season: (April 13th to April 20th)
Mods to do with growth, harvest, or farming mechanics.
Monster Mayhem: (April 20th to April 27th)
Mods that introduce new enemies, boss fights, combat, or even interesting new romance options…?
Spring Cleaning: (April 27th to May 4th)
Mods focused on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, or general spring-themed mods.
Fae and Folklore: (May 4th to May 11th)
Mods inspired by new and old folklore, mythological creatures and legend.
FAQ:
Do Mods have to be new?
Yes! For mods to be eligible to earn prizes they must be released publicly for the first time during the length of the Modathon (April 13th - May 11th). Meaning, you are allowed to dust off an unfinished project as a part of the Modathon, but mod mirrors and reuploads from other sites do not count to earn prizes.
Are multiple submissions allowed?
You may submit as many entries as you like!
Are collaborations allowed?
Yes! Mod collaborations are allowed and encouraged, so long as every collaborator is properly listed in the mod page credits. However, the prize will be granted to the user who uploads the entry and its distribution will be their responsibility.
Can generative AI be used?
We don’t allow AI-generated content in Modathon submissions. Our goal is to celebrate and reward the artistry, creativity, and care that modders put into their work, and we want to keep the focus on the human side of creation.
Are NSFW mods eligible to win prizes?
Yes! NSFW are eligible for prizes, only make sure they are correctly tagged.
