Modathon Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

1.1 Age requirement

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, or at least 13 with verifiable parent or legal guardian consent, consistent with the GGMods Terms of Service.

1.2 Account standing

Participants must hold a GGMods account in good standing throughout the event window.

1.3 Excluded participants

GGMods employees, their direct family members, and members of the judging panel may participate but are not eligible to win prizes.

1.4 Prize delivery method

Cash prizes are delivered via PayPal or international wire transfer. Prizes may be converted to a Steam gift card upon request.

1.5 Discord membership

Participants must be a member of the official GGMods Discord server during the event and for a period of time following its conclusion. The participant’s Discord display name must match their GGMods display name so we can verify identity. Participants not present on Discord at the time of verification will forfeit their prize.

1.6 Conduct

Participants must follow the GGMods Content Moderation Rules. GGMods reserves the right to disqualify any participant for disruptive conduct.

1.7 Terms of Service and game EULAs

Participants must adhere to the GGMods Terms of Service and the End User License Agreements of the relevant games.

1.8 Fraudulent activity

Using fraudulent accounts to inflate download counts or otherwise manipulate metrics will result in suspension or permanent ban and disqualification from the event.

2. Event Rules

2.1 Submission window

The submission window opens April 13, 2026 at 12:00 AM EST and closes May 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

2.2 Eligible games

Eligible Modathon Submissions are for the following games only:

2.3 Scope of submissions

Only mods made for the above games during the submission window are eligible.

2.4 Pre-existing work

Mods may have been in progress before the event, but they must not have been previously published anywhere.

2.5 Required tag

Submissions must carry the Spring Madness Modathon 2026 tag at the close of the event.

2.6 Tag use restriction

Non-event uploads such as mirrors or re-uploads must not use the Modathon tag. The tag is reserved for eligible entries.

2.7 No generative AI

Submissions must not contain assets generated by generative AI systems.

2.8 Metrics freeze

Engagement metrics used to determine prize eligibility are frozen at May 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

3. Prizes

3.1 Weekly cash prize

$100 USD per game per week, awarded by the judging panel and distributed after the Modathon concludes.

3.2 Weekly gift-card prize

$50 USD Steam gift card per game per week, awarded to the most-downloaded eligible submission for that week.

3.3 Grand prize

$1,000 USD per game, awarded to the most-downloaded eligible submission over the entire event window.

3.4 Judging criteria

Judged prizes are evaluated on creative use of theme, quality of the mod, and the quality of the mod page presentation (description, thumbnail, screenshots).

3.5 Judging panel

The judging panel is composed of GGMods Community Managers and experienced mod authors from the participating games.

3.6 Quality and safety review

GGMods reserves the right to decline any submission that does not meet our stability or safety standards, regardless of download counts.

3.7 Multiple prizes

Participants may win multiple prizes across their entries, including a combination of weekly and grand prizes.

3.8 Collaborations

For collaborative submissions, the prize is delivered to the account that uploaded and distributes the mod. Internal splitting of the prize is the responsibility of the participants.

3.9 Taxes

Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes and reporting in their jurisdiction.

4. Winning Announcements and Prize Delivery

4.1 Announcement

Winners will be announced on Friday, May 15, 2026, via the official GGMods Discord server and an official news post on the GGMods website.

4.2 Discord requirement

Winners must be members of the official GGMods Discord server during the announcement period and for a period of time following the announcement.

4.3 Authorship verification

Verification of authorship may be required before a prize is delivered. Failure to verify will result in forfeiture and the prize being awarded to the next eligible entry.

4.4 Ties

Ties are resolved at the sole discretion of GGMods, taking into account judging review, engagement metrics, and other relevant factors.

4.5 Delivery timeline

Prizes will be delivered within a reasonable timeframe following announcement and verification.

5. Modathon Participation Legal Disclaimers

5.1 Ownership

Mod ownership remains with the creator at all times, consistent with the GGMods Terms of Service.

5.2 Promotional rights

By participating, you grant GGMods promotional, editorial, and marketing rights to your username, mod, images, media, and descriptions for event-related uses. Winners specifically may be featured in promotional materials.

5.3 No sponsorship by publishers

This event is not sponsored or endorsed by the developers or publishers of the participating games.

5.4 Disqualification

GGMods may disqualify any participant at any stage of the event for violations of the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

5.5 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. Any dispute shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Montreal, Quebec.
