Foundation - Faces
Replace any female (and soon male) NPC in Skyrim Special Edition with a custom face from the Foundation library. Vanilla, DLC, or mod-added NPCs all supported. No NIF editing, no FaceGen rebuilding, no plugin patching. Pick a target, pick a face, click Export.
Update 1.5.0
No longer requires SkyPatcher. Now uses a new utility I built specifically to replace my NPCs called Recast.
What It Does
NPC Replacer is a standalone Windows app that generates SkyPatcher patches. You pick a target NPC and a Foundation face, and the app produces a ready-to-install mod. SkyPatcher does the actual face copying at runtime, so the patches work alongside other mods without conflicts and without touching ESP records.
Features
- 301 unique female faces from the Foundation library
- Four body type presets: Muscular, Natural, Soft, Strong
- Imports NPCs from any mod in your install (custom followers, populated worlds, NPC overhauls)
- Smart filter hides templates, dead duplicates, leveled actors, and generic name spam
- Blacklist any mod you don't want cluttering the NPC list
- One-click clipboard copy for editor IDs
- Clean export with zero plugin records, just SkyPatcher INIs
Requirements
Recast
Foundation Face Library
Windows 10 or 11
Installation
- Download and install the Foundation mod using your mod manager
- Download this mod
- Unzip this file and run the setup file to install it to your computer
- Run the application from the setup after it completes or from your start menu
How to Use
Step 1: Configure
- Pick your mod manager (MO2 or Vortex) and point at your Skyrim folder. For MO2 users, also point at your Mods folder so the app can see managed plugins.
- Click Scan to import vanilla and DLC female NPCs.
- Click Find Foundation to locate CS_Foundation.esp and load the face library.
- Optional: use Add Mods to import female NPCs from custom followers and overhaul mods.
- Optional: use Blacklist to hide mods you don't want appearing.
Step 2: Assign
- Browse the NPC list on the left, faces on the right.
- Click an NPC, then click a face. Confirm the body type.
- Repeat for every NPC you want to replace.
Step 3: Export
- Give your patch mod a name (for example, "MyFaceOverhaul").
- Choose an output folder.
- Click Export. The result is a complete mod folder. Drop it into your mod manager, enable it, and launch the game.
Tips
- You can run NPC Replacer multiple times to generate separate patch mods, useful for grouping faces by playthrough or theme.
- If a mod isn't appearing in the Add Mods list, it likely has only male NPCs (this tool is currently female-only) or may already be blacklisted.
- Hover any NPC row and click the copy icon to grab the editor ID, handy for sharing or filing filter requests.
Compatibility
NPC Replacer outputs zero ESP records. It writes only SkyPatcher INI files, so it cannot conflict with body mods, ENBs, lighting mods, or other visual overhauls. Compatible with any setup SkyPatcher itself supports.
Known Limitations
- Female NPCs only. Male support is planned for a future release.
- Requires NPCs with defined editor IDs (almost all named NPCs qualify). Will not work with NPCs that have been cloned in-game.

Congratulations on the modathon ColdSun
Thanks! I appreciate it. 😊
是否可以添加自定义基础,我想增加更多其他美化
Not with this version. I'll be creating a new application that does your own presets in the future.
我是你的老粉,从N网追到这里,这个mod是否有中文
are the hairs SMP?
No.
is there an option to auto remove the chosen face once selected for a certain npc?
I'm not sure I understand this question. You simply remove the patch if you don't want it.
I mean, once I selected a certain face (e.g. Aela), that face will not be shown again for another NPC face choices. To avoid selecting the same face again for another NPC.
Ahhh now I understand. That is a good idea. I'll look into adding that.
These are some very cool stuff man. Curious if you have any plans for randomize face for enemy factions? since this one has limitations that require defined IDs.
We'll see. This is just the first version. That said, the most important thing to me is it being bulletproof. I don't want to introduce bugs. Right now it IS bulletproof.
I love the idea behind your mod. But the assets uncompressed takes more than 12 GB of disk space. 67MB just for a face tint it's a waste of resources.
This is 2026. If you can't fit 12GB of space on your computer that is a you problem.
ColdSun I Run Skyrim in a SSD with 4TB in Skyrim. 12 GB just for face tints it's a waste of resouces and for game engine.
That is one opinion I guess. Not mine though.
ColdSun I have loved your mods for quite a long time, but I feel you are getting way to focused on GUI's and Systems instead of simple drop and play mods. I want to play Skyrim, not spend time running windows programs to fiddle with 301 faces for NPCs. Of course this is just my opinion. You do you. I'll just tap out. Oh and the previous guy is right. 12 GB for facetints is ridiculous
Robert Its a simple choice. Don't download it and "tap out." No one's feelings will be hurt. Everyone has their own preferences.
As far as what I'm focusing on, well, you don't have any idea what my plans are. You are in a very very small minority that doesn't like the windows programs though.
Hi. I'm using Google Translate, but I hope my message will be clear.
Thank you so much for your NPC skin generation mods. They're absolutely insane, in a good way.
Since I'm not a programmer, it's very convenient: download the archive, choose the desired NPC face/body, and that's it.
Please tell me, are you planning to expand your library in the future? Or, for example, add the ability to add to it ourselves?
Yes, but this is very complex work so it might take me some time before the next release.
WHERE? i am slow "Click Find Foundation to locate CS_Foundation.esp"
You need the foundation faces library mod as well.
ColdSun thanks for reply! also i did search it up but but i did not found is there any links? is it on nexus?
Everything you need is here on GGMods. You can find them just by going to the Skyrim SE section. Maybe you need to login and put your age in since they are marked as Adult.
Damn I love this program ColdSun! The GUI is so smooth and responsive. I know it's a early build but if you're taking suggestions, It would save a lot of time to have an auto fill button for all the main npcs that you worked on to have newest faces or if you wanted to get crazy you could pick between the gens and then we could go back and select the other options for the less popular ones.
Thanks! I'll consider this idea.
This may be a dumb question but is there supposed to be a plugin file when you export the patch? When I open the mod file created, there's no esp and there's no plugin that shows up in the right pane of MO2 when I enable mod? Needless to say, it also doesn't affect the targeted NPC.
No, it creates a skypatch. No plugin needed.
Will this mod support the addition of other faces to the face library or is it designed solely for your faces (which are fantastic btw). Say we wanted to mix and match so we had wanted some npc's using your faces and others using pandorables for example.
This mod only works with my 301 faces. That said, I'm planning on releasing an app in the future that lets you build it with your own faces.
Your work is awesome Coldsun, but stoped to follow you since you started to use Skypatcher for one reason. That mod it´s not wise for any load order.
ColdSun exactly
Well. if he created RECAST. And not dependant of Skypatcher it's because He noticed something ;)
RECAST looks more clean in how to manage codes since is based on SKSE:)
