Monetization Rules

On GGMods, every action you take and every download you receive has a transparent, guaranteed value that does not diminish as the platform grows. This is done through a Fixed-Value model, where every action has a guaranteed return that does not fluctuate from month to month. A user's download is always worth the same amount, ensuring your growth is consistently rewarded.

Transparency is important to us which is why we rely on strong moderation and case-by-case review to avoid abuse, as well as listening to community feedback to evaluate how the system works as time goes on. As a result, this system might evolve as our community does.

Eligibility and Registration

To maintain a professional and safe environment, all participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to register for the GGMods Point system and receive payouts.
  • Account Standing: Your account must be in good standing with no active moderation strikes or history of copyright violations.
  • Asset Permissions: You must be the original creator of the mod or have explicit, documented permission to monetize any third-party assets included in your file.
  • Registration: Creators must opt-in to the rewards system and provide valid payment information (e.g., PayPal) for fund distribution.

Currencies and Earning

All platform activity is categorized into two distinct streams: GGMods Points (GGP) and Reward Points (RP).

GGMods Points:

GGP represents our cash-eligible points that can be paid out.

The following actions accumulate GGP:

Unique Mod Download (Main File): 10 points
Awarded for the initial download of a main file by a unique user.

Unique Mod Download (Optional File): 3 points
Awarded for the first time a unique user downloads an optional file.

Repeat download after an update: 3 points
Awarded per file. This is capped to one update a month. Subsequent updates for the same mod within the same month will not award further GGP upon subsequent repeated downloads.

Update Published: 100 points
Awarded when you publish a new approved file for your mod after its initial release.

  • Must be at least 24 hours after the first file was approved
  • Limited to one rewarded update every 30 days per mod

Like Received: 1 point
Awarded for every unique like your content receives.

Comment Received: 1 point
Awarded for every unique comment received on your mod page.

Reward Points:

RP are platform-specific progression points that will unlock perks and platform benefits in the future, but do not translate to cash. They are all about participation and contribution to the GGMods ecosystem:

The following actions accumulate RP:

Profile Creation: 100 points.
Awarded after profile approval.

Mod Upload: 100 points.
Awarded for each new mod approved.

Giving a Like: 1 point.
Awarded for showing appreciation to fellow creators.

Leaving a Comment: 1 point.
Awarded for engaging with the community.

Consider this currency cosmetic at present, and a good way to flex how active you are in the community.

External Monetization

On top of our built in monetization system, GGMods allows you to earn in the following ways.

You may:

  • Add your preferred donation link under the “Tipping” section of your profile. Anyone who clicks “Tip” on your profile or mods will be taken directly to your chosen site.
  • Add donation links in your profile or mod descriptions, so long as it is done in a tasteful, non-invasive, and non-obstructive manner.
  • Advertise your commissions by adding links to your services in your profile or mod descriptions. Mod descriptions should remain focused on information about the mod itself, so rather than listing your services directly, please link to them instead. Services may include art assets, code, or mod commissions.

You may not:

  • Lock your mods behind any kind of paywall and advertise it on GGMods.
  • Link in any way to webpages where paid, modded content is present. This includes adding a Ko-fi, Patreon or any other such website as your donation link if paid mods are also offered or sold within the webpage.
  • The only exception to the above rule is linking to paid content hosted within developer approved modding marketplaces such as: The Bethesda Verified Creator’s Program and Inzoi Creations Marketplace.
  • Distribute any kind of Preview, Demo or Lite versions of mods whose full versions are paywalled.
  • Linking to paywalls on mods, even if they will be publicly accessible for free later.
  • Linking to paid early access or beta versions of mods, even if they will be publicly accessible for free later.
  • Attempting to lock updates, mod additions or additional content behind our allowed monetisation options such as:
    • Requesting a certain amount of donations, or for a donation threshold to be reached, to release additional content.
    • Implying that future updates or development depend on donations.
    • Offer updates in exchange for donations or as a commission payment.

Prohibited Behavior and Abuse Prevention

To protect the integrity of the system, certain types of content and behaviours are ineligible for rewards. Please note that our ability to maintain the transparency and state of the system relies on people using it fairly.

You may not:

  • Artificially inflate your downloads through bots, scripts or “download-for-download schemes”. Asking for support in the form of a like or download is permitted.
  • Artificially split a single mod into multiple mod pages in order to farm GGP. Likewise, separating features that should reasonably be bundled together into unnecessary optional files for the purpose of point farming is against the rules.
  • Separate mod updates into new mod pages with the intention of farming GGP. GGMods rewards repeated downloads for mod updates, so authors are encouraged to update their old files.
  • Attempt to artificially inflate GGP acquisition through making negligible changes (such as small text edits, trivial tweaks, or other low-effort modifications) and update spamming.

It is important to GGMods that bug fixing feels properly rewarded, as well as the creation of new content updates be encouraged, so we ask users to treat the system with care and responsibility. If you suspect misuse of it, please report infringing parties using the report system on GGMods.

Payouts

  • Minimum Threshold: A minimum balance of $10.00 (10,000 GGP) is required to request a payout.
  • Verification Period: To prevent fraud and ensure download legitimacy, points are subject to a 60-day verification period before becoming "cash-ready."
  • Payment Schedule: Verified funds are processed on a monthly cycle.
  • Accumulation: GGMods Points do not expire and will continue to accumulate in your account until you choose to redeem them.
  • Team Leadership: For mods created by a group, one user must be designated as the Team Lead to receive and distribute points.
  • Dispute Resolution: GGMods does not mediate disputes regarding the internal distribution of funds within a modding team.

Disclaimers

  • GGMods reserves the right to modify point values, eligibility criteria, or the fixed-rate amount at any time while providing prior notice.
  • By opting into the rewards system, you grant GGMods a non-exclusive license to host and distribute your content. You retain full ownership of your work.
  • Creators are responsible for any local taxes or reporting required for the income earned through the platform.
  • If any conflict arises between the Terms of Service and Monetization Rules, the provisions of this document will take precedence for all matters related to the GGMods Points system.
