Megapiranha are large, fast-swimming freshwater predators that thrive in rivers and lakes across Tamriel. They are most commonly found in warmer climates, though certain populations have adapted to the colder waters of Skyrim and Solstheim. These northern variants developed a unique system of heat-exchanging blood vessels within their gills, allowing them to maintain warm-blooded body temperatures despite the frigid environment.
Armed with razor-sharp rows of teeth and immensely powerful jaws, Megapiranha are efficient killers capable of tearing through flesh and bone alike. While a single Megapiranha poses little threat to a skilled adventurer, they are rarely encountered alone. Schools of these fish can overwhelm even the most seasoned warriors, stripping prey to bone in moments.
Legends warn travelers to avoid swimming in certain lakes and rivers known to harbor Megapiranha, as many who ignored such warnings have vanished without a trace, leaving behind nothing but a bloodied current.
