Alits
Alits are tailless, two-legged reptiles, known for their lumbering gait and distinctive cries. Omnivorous by nature, they subsist on carrion, plants, and smaller creatures, making them both scavengers and opportunistic hunters. Their thick hides and powerful jaws have long made them dangerous to unwary travelers.
Distribution
Alits are most commonly encountered in Morrowind, Black Marsh, and Elsweyr, where they have thrived for centuries. Their presence in Valenwood and Solstheim, however, is the result of importation. Settlers from Valenwood once brought the beasts to Solstheim as a source of food and leather, but many escaped captivity. Over time, they established a feral population across southern Solstheim.
In more recent history, the eruption of Red Mountain drove populations of Alits westward. Sightings have since been recorded near the Skyrim–Morrowind border, particularly in the wilds east of Riften, where they continue to adapt to Skyrim’s harsher climate.
